Fourth Annual Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award

The Main Line Chamber of Commerce and Devereux Honor Donna Allie of Team Clean, Inc. with Fourth Annual Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award

The Main Line Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Devereux, is proud to announce the winner of the 2012 Gold Leaf Celebration’s Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award, Donna Allie of Team Clean, Inc. The Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award was created to recognize exceptional female executives in the Greater Main Line Region. Candidates for this award are senior-level executives who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, business excellence, a commitment to community service and a dedication to the advancement of all employees.

Donna is the president and founder of Team Clean, a leading provider of janitorial services in the Greater Philadelphia region. A single parent, Donna began cleaning houses after she was unable to find a career in her chosen field after graduation from college to support herself and her child. It was then that she realized there was an opportunity in the cleaning industry and began recruiting other women who were in situations similar to her own to clean homes in pairs. After landing her first commercial contract in the mid-1908s, Donna launched the company Team Clean, Inc. as a solo entrepreneur. Since then, Donna has guided the company’s growth to more than 700 employees and over $18 million in sales. Team Clean has been recognized as the #1 ranked Minority-Owned Business and the #2 ranked Woman-Owned Business reported in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Previous winners of The Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award have included Linda Galante, Partner in Business Development and Board Director at Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young LLP; Irene Horstmann Hannan, Senior Vice President in Commercial Banking for Citizens Bank in 2010; and Andrea Gilbert, President of Bryn Mawr Hospital in 2009. The woman, for whom the award is named, Helena Devereux, was a schoolteacher in the early 1900s when she left Philadelphia and moved to the Main Line to launch one of the nation’s first private schools for children with special needs. As a female entrepreneur at the turn of the century, she fought through many gender inequality obstacles and helped pave the road for future generations of professional women.

Donna will be honored at the Main Line Chamber’s Gold Leaf Celebration & Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Philadelphia Country Club.
